A decade into operations in remote African areas, Gemfields has received numerous approaches from visitors expressing interest in actively becoming involved in the communities they have visited…
Over the years, Gemfields has facilitated these requests and provided both the expertise and the management skills needed to bring them to life outside of core business activities.
By creating the Foundation, Gemfields is providing a formal mechanism by which to manage these projects and to further efforts to both alleviate poverty within communities and step up vital conservation work throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
The Gemfields Foundation is a UK-registered charity (charity number 1185658) that operates quite unlike a charity in that all of its funds are directed straight to the realisation of the project, and overheads – including management and internal expertise – are fully absorbed by Gemfields Limited. The result is a charitable endeavour that operates like a private company: seeking efficiencies and effective results-driven initiatives to deliver impactful projects in a timely fashion.
Gemfields Foundation is the charitable arm of Gemfields, through which donors can contribute funding to directly support community and conservation projects in Africa.
Through the Foundation, Gemfields and donors support community and conservation projects in Zambia and Mozambique, or fund new projects designed to bring positive impact to communities and conservation efforts.
